Running a floorball tournament
Match length at a tournament
Adult competitive floorball is played over 3 × 20 minutes of stopped time, but tournaments play much shorter matches. 2 × 10 to 2 × 12 minutes of running time is common, and children often play a single half. Including the break, allow 25 to 30 minutes of court time per match.
Large or small court
On a large 40 × 20 metre court, teams play five outfield players and a goalkeeper; on a small court, three and a goalkeeper. In a bigger hall with enough rink boards you can set up two small courts side by side and play twice as many matches.
Overtime and penalty shots
When a knockout match ends level, there is usually a short sudden-death overtime followed by penalty shots, often 3 per team at tournaments. Tell teams the overtime length, for example 3 to 5 minutes, in advance.
