Running a ball hockey tournament
Usually just one rink
A venue usually has only one ball hockey pitch with boards, which limits the size of your tournament. With 2 × 10 minute matches and five-minute breaks, about 19 matches fit into eight hours. That is enough for six teams in a round robin, which is 15 matches.
Shootouts in the knockout stage
A knockout match that ends level is decided by a shootout. Usually 3 to 5 shooters per team take part, followed by one each until there is a winner. Tournaments often skip overtime to save time.
Goalkeepers and weather
Goalkeepers need full kit, and amateur teams do not always have it. Ask in advance and arrange spare kit if needed. Matches are played outdoors, so leave some slack in the schedule in case of rain.
